🧶 Summer Chaos, Tech Adventures & A Whole Lot of Crafting

I’ve been MIA for quite a while—summer is flying by, and we’ve been busy, busy, BUSY. Between life, projects, and a new tech rabbit hole I fell into, the days have been packed.

💻 Building TheCrochetDJ App

For years I’ve tracked my yarn inventory, purchases, projects, and ideas in a Microsoft Access database. I even use a separate app to log time and create invoices for commission work. Eventually I decided… why not build something that does all of this in one place?

So I took a stab at creating a Windows app—with Claude’s help—and before I knew it, I had also built a web app so I could access everything from anywhere. Two weeks later, TheCrochetDJ App v1 was officially born! It’s simple, functional, and honestly, I’m loving it. Even better: both the database and the web app are hosted on free servers.

My plan is to use it for a while, keep improving it, and maybe—just maybe—turn it into a shareable Windows app for anyone else who wants a streamlined way to manage their yarn life.

🪄 Crochet Starts, Stops & Starts Again

Crafting hasn’t slowed down either. We recently bought new reclining deck chairs for our screened‑in porch. When fall rolls in, I know I’ll want a small lap blanket for those chilly evenings. I snapped a photo of our deck rug and asked Claude to help me design a lapghan to match. Eventually I’ll make a second one, so this project should keep me busy for a bit.

I also just finished a pair of men’s briefs using Berroco Remix Light. I’m at the final step—adding elastic to the legs and waist. This was purely an experiment to see how they’d turn out. And no, I will not be modeling them.

🧵 Sewing Machine Excitement

For my birthday, I ordered a PooLin EOC02RE sewing machine, and I’m ridiculously excited about it. The reviews have been great, and I’m hoping it’ll be money well spent. One of the features I’m most looking forward to? Over 200 stitches—including letters and fun little characters like a car and a rabbit. I can’t wait to put it to work.

That’s about it for now. I keep telling myself I’m going to start posting more often… and then life happens. But I’m still here, still crafting, still creating—and I’ll share more as I go.
