On a recent thrift store run, I stumbled across a find I simply couldn’t pass up. For just 99 cents, I found a quilted pillow case with a look that rivaled a Vera Bradley bag — so naturally, it came home with me.
The result exceeded my expectations. I used a men’s belt, also sourced for 99 cents, as the handles — the length was a perfect fit, as if it had been made for the job. For under two dollars total, the finished piece looks polished, intentional, and anything but thrifted.
The best part? The pillow cases came in a pair, so I’m already brainstorming ideas for the second one.
This project has also broadened my eye when I shop. I’ll always be on the lookout for yarn, but now beautiful fabrics are on my radar too. You never know what’s waiting on those shelves.
